Support a student

In 1999, a miracle began to happen in Northwest Ohio.  Over 800 qualifying youngsters learned that they had been awarded scholarships to the non-public school of their choice.  For these children and their families, this scholarship is a step out of poverty, a new chance, and a gift of hope.

Only the First Step

The Northwest Ohio Scholarship Fund, Inc. was created in 1999 to provide a privately funded source of tuition assistance for area children wishing a non-public school education.  More than $2 million was raised through local gifts and a match by the Children's Scholarship Fund, a national program.  These scholarships were granted to low-income families in Lucas, Wood, and Fulton Counties and will extend through graduation from 8th grade.

The response to this program has been tremendous!  But these scholarships represent only the first step.  Over 6,600 children applied for the 817 original scholarships awarded.  Another 500 students were added in the fall 2001 and another 100 students were added in the fall of 2003.
